Bafa Lake - Investment Opportunity

About Bafa

Lake Bafa is a lake situated in southwest Turkey, part of it within the boundaries of Milas district of Muğla Province and the northern part within Aydın Province's Söke district. The lake used to be a gulf of the Aegean Sea until the Classical period, when the sea passage was gradually closed by the alluvial mass brought by Büyük Menderes River. The gulf, and later the lake, was named Latmus in antiquity.

The southern shore of the lake is traced by the highway connecting İzmir-Kuşadası-Söke to towns such as Milas and Bodrum that are situated in the south. The northern shore of the lake, where steep slopes are covered by wild or semi-domesticated olive trees, is virtually untouched to this day.The archaeologist Anneliese Peschlow discovered more than 100 prehistoric rock paintings in the countless rock caves of the region. Among the sanctified sites in the Latmos Mountains one grotto was found with paintings differing completely from all other motives previously found.

Near the Bafa Lake are the most well-known ancient sites of Turkey: e.g.

Ephesus , Milet , Priene , Dydima - this makes the area ideal for study and culture trips.

People who have bought plots of land at Bafa Lake have seen their initial investments nearly double in three months. Plots from £8,000

The National Park

Bafa lake is listed as a bird sanctuary. In the winter, hundreds of thousands of ducks and aquatic birds migrate there. Of the 208 species that live there, 68 also breed there.. The area has now been declared a nature park of some 12,281 hectares. It will become a haven for nature lovers with picnic areas, camp sites, bird-watching posts and trails but uppermost on the agenda is replacing the fish stocks.
